Puppy Training in Midland, Ontario
Helping puppies and their families build skills, confidence, and good habits from the start.
Raising a Puppy Doesn't Have to Feel Overwhelming
Bringing home a puppy is exciting — but let’s be honest, it can also feel like “what did I get myself into?” really fast.
One minute they’re sleeping in your lap, and the next they’re biting your pants, stealing socks, launching themselves at your guests, eating god-knows-what, and forgetting their name as soon as you step outside.
Puppy training isn’t just about teaching cues. It’s about helping your puppy learn how to live in our world while building confidence, communication, and skills that actually matter in day-to-day life.
Private training gives us the chance to set your puppy up for success in a way that actually fits your home, your lifestyle, your goals, and your puppy’s individual needs. Because the plan for a busy family with kids, a rural property, or a puppy who’s nervous about the world should not all look exactly the same.
My approach focuses on real-life training using positive reinforcement, clear communication, enrichment, and management — not punishment, intimidation, or quick fixes.
Whether you’re dealing with puppy biting, jumping, leash pulling, house training struggles, overexcitement, or just trying to figure out what’s normal, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
The goal isn’t a “perfect” puppy. It’s helping you raise a dog you genuinely enjoy living with ❤️

My Approach to Puppy Training
Puppy training is about so much more than teaching sit, stay, and come.
It’s about helping your puppy learn how to move through the world confidently, safely, and successfully — while building a relationship based on trust, communication, and positive experiences along the way.
My training focuses on creating positive associations, teaching real-life skills, and helping puppies learn what to do before behaviours become bigger problems. That means we work on things like check-ins, leash walking, handling, learning to settle, confidence around new environments, and making good choices in everyday situations.
I also look at the bigger picture — because behaviour doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Sleep, enrichment, stress, frustration, exercise, social experiences, and meeting a puppy’s physical and emotional needs all play a huge role in how they behave.
Training should support the dog in front of us — not just focus on obedience for obedience’s sake.
Whether your goal is raising a confident family dog, preventing future behaviour challenges, or simply making daily life easier, private training allows us to tailor the process to your puppy, your lifestyle, and the skills that matter most to you.
Training Support for Midland Puppies
Puppy training is about helping your puppy learn how to live in your world while building confidence, communication, and skills that actually matter in day-to-day life.
My Puppy Essentials program is designed to support you through the real stuff:
biting and chewing
house training
jumping up
leash pulling
overexcitement
settling in the house
confidence around new people, dogs, sounds, and environments
Training sessions take place in your home and real-life environments around Midland and surrounding areas, so we’re working on the things that actually matter to your day-to-day life — not just what your puppy can do in a quiet room with no distractions.
You’ll also get:
personalized training notes and homework after each session
text/email support between visits
access to training videos, guides, enrichment ideas, and resources through Must Love Dogs (MLD)
Every puppy is different. A busy sporting breed puppy, a sensitive rescue puppy, and a confident social butterfly are all going to need different things.
The goal isn’t to force every puppy into the same mould — it’s to help them develop skills, confidence, and healthy behaviour patterns in a way that makes sense for who they are and the life they’re living with you. ❤️
Frequently Asked Questions
Every puppy and household is different, so the best fit depends on what’s been going on, what kind of support you want, and your puppy’s individual needs.
Here are some of the most common questions I get about puppy training and behaviour support.
-
Yes — sessions take place in your home or in environments you frequent so we can work on the things that actually matter in your day-to-day life.
-
The earlier the better! Puppies are constantly learning from the moment they come home — whether we’re intentionally teaching or not.
-
After we’ve talked through what’s been going on, your puppy’s individual needs, and your training goals, we’ll use a mix of games, skill-building, management, and real-life practice to work toward those goals.
We may also make changes to your setup at home to help your puppy make better choices more easily — because training isn’t just about what we teach. It’s also about the environment we’re asking them to learn in.
-

That’s actually more common than people think. Early support can make a huge difference, especially when we focus on confidence, emotional safety, and appropriate exposure instead of forcing interactions.
