Real-Life Training for Real-Life Dogs

Dog training isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every dog, household, and situation is different. That’s why my services are designed to meet you where you are — whether you’re navigating puppyhood, settling in with a rescue dog, or working through behaviour challenges that show up in everyday life.

Starter Session

A Starter Session Consultation is a great first step, no matter your dog’s age or the challenges you’re facing.

This is a one-time, in-home session to look at what’s happening, talk through your goals, and create a clear plan for next steps.

You’ll leave the session with:

  • Practical strategies for your top concerns

  • A clearer understanding of your dog’s behaviour

  • A written plan outlining priorities and next steps

  • Short-term follow-up support and helpful resources

It’s also an opportunity to see whether working together feels like the right fit before committing to ongoing training.

Private Training

In-home training and behaviour support built around your dog, your home, and the challenges you’re dealing with day to day.

Private training is a good fit for:

  • Puppies and young dogs learning household skills

  • Adolescent and adult dogs working on foundations or manners

  • Behaviour challenges like reactivity, fear, barking or jumping

  • People who want hands-on guidance and support

Sessions focus on practical skills, clear communication, and changes that fit into daily life — not just what works during a training session.

Day Training

Day training is a hands-on training service where I work directly with your dog during the day, focusing on real-life skills in real environments.

Instead of coaching you through every step, I take the lead on training, outings, and structured practice — then return your dog home tired, settled, and with new foundations in place.

This option is ideal for puppies and dogs who benefit from:

  • consistent practice with an experienced trainer

  • early socialization and real-world exposure for puppies

  • structured enrichment and skill-building

  • progress without being sent away to a board-and-train facility

Day training is commonly used by busy households, puppy guardians, and families who want results without having to manage every training session themselves.

Virtual Training

Virtual training offers flexible, one-on-one support without the need for in-person visits. Sessions are held online and focus on real-life skills using your dog’s actual environment, routines, and challenges.

Instead of generic advice, we work through what’s happening in real time — reviewing setup, handling, and training plans together so you leave with clear next steps and practical strategies you can use right away.

This option is ideal for dogs and people who benefit from:

  • guidance for everyday training challenges at home

  • behaviour support that doesn’t require hands-on handling

  • structured plans, troubleshooting, and follow-up support

  • help between or alongside in-person sessions

Virtual training works well for puppies, adolescents, and adult dogs, and for people who want clear direction and professional support without scheduling an in-home visit.

Ongoing Support

Training packages are available for dogs and guardians who benefit from continued guidance beyond the Starter Session. Packages are tailored to your dog’s needs and may include private training, day training, or a combination of both.

We’ll talk through options after your session so you can decide what level of support feels right.

Why I Don’t Offer Group Classes Anymore

A short explanation of why I focus on private training and support.

Wondering what training looks like, what’s included, or whether I come to your area?
Here are answers to the most common questions I get about my services, approach, and what it’s like to work together.

💬 Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use reinforcement-based, reward-driven methods that focus on creating lasting behaviour change while helping you feel more confident and making everyday life with your dog a bit easier.

I don’t use tools—no prong, electric collars (shock, beep or vibrate), choke chains, or leash pops.

Instead, we look at the whole picture, including your dog’s history, environment, daily life, and what tends to influence their behaviour, to design an approach that actually fits your life.

Working with me means building a more connected relationship with your dog—one based on trust, communication, and mutual respect. I’m not just here to help your dog behave; I’m here to help you understand your dog and discover the why behind their behaviour—so you get lasting change, not just a quick fix in the moment.

  • All training packages include:

    • Personalized training plans tailored to your dog and goals

    • Session notes, homework, and helpful resources

    • Text, WhatsApp and email support between sessions

    • Free 12 month access to MLD member site (with videos, guides, enrichment ideas + more)

Some packages also include bonus check-ins or access to additional online material depending on your dog's needs.

  • I know cost matters. That’s why I recommends a Starter Session first. It gives you real solutions without committing to a big package. From there, you choose whether to continue with a program, add more single sessions, or simply put the first plan into practice.

  • That depends on your dog, your goals, and what’s going on at home. Some clients need just a few sessions for basic manners, while others benefit from ongoing support—especially for behaviour concerns like fear, reactivity, or issues adjusting to a new home.

If you’re not sure, we can start with a Starter Session consult and go from there.

  • Yes — this is an area I work in often. Many of the dogs I support are newly adopted, have unknown social histories, or are dealing with fear, stress, and reactivity.

When it comes to aggression, the level and context matter. I work with dogs showing mild to moderate aggression when it’s safe and appropriate to do so, and when training and behaviour support are the right next steps.

Cases involving severe or unpredictable aggression, significant bite history, or high risk to people or other animals may be outside my scope. In those situations, I’m happy to help you think through next steps or refer you to a qualified behaviour professional if needed.

My approach is always tailored to the individual dog and focused on safety, trust, and teaching new skills at the dog’s pace.

  • The easiest way to get started is by booking a free 15-minute chat or Starter Session through my website. You can click here to book or reach out if you’re not sure which program is the best fit. I also offer a

  • In some cases—like severe aggression, complex anxiety, or issues tied to medical conditions—I may recommend we bring in another professional such as a veterinary behaviourist.

My goal is helping dog guardians not overpromising. If a referral is the best path, I’ll guide you to trusted professionals.

  • Where do you offer services? I’m based in Waubaushene and Port Severn, Ontario, and serve the surrounding area. Midland, Penetang, Barrie and beyond.

In-home visits are available, and virtual sessions can be arranged if you’re outside my travel range.
